PART TWO…
And So It
Begins Again.
Jettermane was
frustrated with the protocol of his and is family’s safety with being able to
leave the ship. They had already been landed for three-worried filled (though
not for him-hours waiting for the guards to come back and say it was okay for
him, Blayze and Alexi to leave the damn ship.
Blayze was busy
going through all the paper work the Scribe Merriweather had brought to him.
Alexi was sitting quietly on the couch in Blayze’s cabin looking dazed as if he
wasn’t quite sure what the hell was going on. All Jettermane wanted was to get
out of there. He needed to breathe the air of his home world once more.
Actually he wished he remembered his home-world. Things were still a little
hazy where his memory was concerned.
“Just stop
okay,” Alexi finally snapped. “Your constant pacing and thought pattern is
sending me insane. I should be the one freaking out not you.”
Jettermane
stared open mouthed at his new mate and finally saw the panic written so
clearly on his handsome face. What was happening inside his beautiful head to
cause such a reaction?
Walking over to
where he sat, Jettermane wrapped his arms around his new mate and soon to be
lover; tangling his hand in Alexi’s hair he pulled the man’s head toward him
until it rested against his stomach. “What’s the matter?”
“It’s nothing.
I’m just worried because it’s a new place and…” Jettermane cut him off.
“This is more
than just mere worry, you are shaking you are absolutely terrified of going out
there. Tell me why?”
The deep voice
of Blayze sounded strained as he spoke from where he sat across the room, when
Jettermane looked Blayze was holding a paper in his hands and staring at Alexi.
“It seems on his last visit here, our mate may have found himself in a spot of trouble.
Would you care to explain yourself?”
Jettermane felt
Alexi slump against him for a moment in comfort, before moving away so he could
answer Blayze’s question. “It really wasn’t my fault. I never meant for what
happened to happen. It is not my fault that they were all screaming their
thoughts at me. And honestly, I didn’t know at the time they were Jettermane’s
fathers.”
“My Father’s? What
does this have to do with my fathers?”
“It seems while
here last time your uncle came and confronted the father who raised you wanting
compensation for the death of his mate dealt by your hand, and you know by our
laws there are legal ways around doing things of this nature. It seems your uncle
was showing our new brethren how we settle matters on Ximinex.”
“What laws, or
have you forgotten I still can’t remember shit about who I am?” Jettermane glared
at his husband, but there was no actual heat in his words.
“One of our
laws state you cannot request compensation from a mated person when they are
with their true mate. The death of your mother was not the by-product of
something your father had done. True Mate bonds circumvent most laws because
they are a very rare occurrence in our people.”
Jettermane rolled
his eyes, “I’m still not getting what this has to do with Arion and Maskel.”
“Um,” a deep
blush crashed over Alexi and he avoided looking at either of them. “I may have
announced to everyone that your fathers were true mates.”
“What!?” Jettermane’s
mind raced with what he just heard. “Tell me what happened?” he demanded.
“Well after my
announcement, Markel grabbed his Dagger, sliced both their palms together and
reinforced what I had claimed. So he mated your father right then and their
which shut down your uncle’s claim.”
“What happened
next?”
“Your uncle was
very angry by what I had done… which is understandable, he ordered me and my
kind off the planet. Arion was a little shocked at the news and didn’t say much
as Maskel claimed him.” Alexi frowned. “I don’t know why they didn’t know they
were mates to begin with their minds and hearts were all locked up together surely
they would have, have to of known.”
The laughter
which rumbled out of Blayze sounded like thunder filling up the room. “You have
no idea what can of worms you have opened up beautiful.” He held up the sheet
of paper. “Greer has made a formal complaint against our new mate and his kin. He
has asked for a cull to be placed on them if they should ever return to the
surface of Ximinex.”
“What’s going
to happen?” Jettermane didn’t want to lose the mate he still had yet to claim.
Blayze held up
the sheath of paper and tore it down the middle. “Request denied.”
“I’m more
worried about what your fathers are going to say when they see me again. Will
they hate me for what I have done to them? What if they didn’t want to be
mated? And now they are bound together forever.”
Again Blayze laughed,
“Maskel will be ecstatic that he has finally been able to publicly claim Arion.
I’m not sure how Arion would react, I don’t think the man ever dreamed he would
have a male for a mate.”
“Did Maskel
always love my father?” Jettermane asked as he walked across the room and
plonked his arse on his husbands lap.
“I think Maskel
has always known who his mate was, yet when your father and your mother wed he
thought he had lost his chance so he stayed away, never once ever having spoken
to Arion. I once heard him tell my father that it was better this way; at least
by staying away from Arion your father had a chance to be happy.”
“But what about
Maskel? Didn’t he want to be happy?”
“I can’t answer
that for you. This is a question you would have to ask the man yourself. Though
I get the feeling your mother’s people knew about the bond between Arion and
Maskel and they used it to their advantage. I have to admit Jetter that your
mother’s people are not a nice family and I am glad we have nothing to do with
them.”
A single tear
slid down Jettermane’s face. “How can I be enough for you to love if I am
descended from them?”
“Because you
have more of both your father’s traits in you than you ever had of their
linage. I love you because you are mine.” He kissed Jettermane’s cheek and held
out an arm for Alexi to join them. “You will always be ours.”
Jettermane felt
loved beyond anything he had ever known as the two men embraced him and
whispered word of comfort into his ears.
